Altium Designer Licensing

Students must now create their own Altium account to request a student license in order to use the Altium Designer software.

Creating an Altium Account

  1. Navigate to https://www.altium.com/education/students

  2. Click Start Verification

  1. Follow the prompts to complete the verification process

  2. Once you are verified as a student, you will be redirected to a second form.
    Complete this form and click Submit

  1. Once you submit the second form, you should see this confirmation page:

  1. Check your email for the Altium account activation email. Please note it may be in your
    spam folder. Click the green Click Here to Verify Your Email button as shown below:

  1. Once you have verified your email it will take you to a confirmation screen as shown below:

  1. You should receive an email with your Altium Designer License information. Please note
    that this email could take 1-2 hours to receive:

It will also contain your license information with your unique license serial number and
activation code:

  1. Click the Activate AltiumLive link in the email to be redirected to the screen shown below where you will create a password for your Altium account:

  1. Installing the software

    1. If using a personal computer, proceed with downloading the Installer and installing the software on your computer.

    2. If using a university provided machine you may need to contact your local IT group to get the software installed. Send a ticket to engr-helpdesk@tamu.edu for assistance installing the software.

  2. Launch the Altium Designer application and login using your AltiumLive Account to use the software.

Troubleshooting

If you want to use your license on another computer, you must first release your
license on the computer you are currently logged into Altium Designer with.

NOTE: You cannot be logged into your Altium Designer license on 2 computers at the same
time.

When your license expires, you can request a new one by clicking on the link in
step 1. of this document and repeating steps 1-7.

NOTE: You will only be able to request a new student license after your current one expires.
