Software

The College of Engineering has software licenses that are widely available to all users. If there currently is not a license for software that you would like installed on your computer, please send a purchase request to engr-helpdesk@tamu.edu or check out the list of software sold by the Software Center.

Available software

Software licensed by the College of Engineering is not eligible to be installed on personal devices.

A variety of software applications is available to install via the Self Service portal on Mac, Windows, and Linux. For instructions on installing required software for first year engineering students, please see our Installing Anaconda and PyCharm page.

Software available for personal use

Software from the Software Center will need to be purchased using personal funds.

Software available to all students, staff, and faculty at Texas A&M are listed below. The TAMU Software Center is the best place to check for free or discounted software.

  • Microsoft OnTheHub - Students can purchase Windows from here; staff and faculty can bulk purchase software for students here.

  • MatLab is free for students from the Software Center.
